  • Historical Sites
    • Buck Cemetery "The Foot on the Stone"
      • Bucksport's founder, Jonathan Buck died on March 18, 1795. Shortly after his death, a noticeable marking of a foot and leg appeared on his head stone. It was rumored that Buck had ordered having a woman burned at the stake for practicing witchcraft. Some say that the foot on the stone is the one that dropped into the execution fire, or that it was painted on Buck's stone by the risen corpse himself. Absolutely no records exist, however the grave of Jonathan Buck has been a source of intrigue for many visitors to Bucksport.
